Pro Choice Lobby Day
When: Wednesday, March 10, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Where: First Baptist Church, 1373 Grant St., Denver
Learn how to lobby your elected officials on issues of women's privacy and reproductive health care. Legislative experts from women's health care advocacy groups will share tips and techniques for sharing a clear, concise message with your state senator or representative. Then, walk across the street to the Capitol and make your voice heard! This event is FREE, but RSVPs are required, so email erikm@aclu-co.org.

Young Professional Meeting
When: Wednesday, March 10, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Where: Translations Gallery, 1743 Wazee St., Denver
Caregivers? Dispensaries? Clinics? Cards? Brian Vicente of Sensible Colorado and Mason Tvert of SAFER will discuss the medical marijuana legislation working its way through the Capitol, currently in the jumbled forms of HB1284 and SB109. The legislature is debating and amending proposed bills now, so who know what they will look like by March, but no matter how many pages of policy have been generated by then, Mason and Brian will be sure to cut through the legalese and explain Colorado's unique position on the cutting edge of medical marijuana law.

An Evening with Author Salman Ahmad

The ACLU of Colorado, the Hasan Family Foundation and the Tattered Cover invite you to an evening with: Salman Ahmad as he discusses his book Rock & Roll Jihad: A Muslim Rock Star's Revoluntion. Pakistan's Salman Ahmad is renowned for being the first rock star to destroy the wall that divides the West and the Muslim world. Ahmad is a U. N. Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS and an international peace activist.

Membership Meeting of the Northern Colorado Chapter of the ACLU
When: Sunday, March 21, 2:00 pm
Where: Harmony Public Library, Shields and Harmony, in Fort Collins.
You are invited to a membership meeting of the Northern Colorado Chapter of the ACLU of Colorado on Sunday, March 21 at 2 pm. The guest speaker will be Mark Silverstein, Legal Director of the ACLU of Colorado, who will discuss the ruling of February 14, 2010, by the Colorado Supreme Court that Weld County authorities violated the Fourth Amendment privacy rights of hundreds of tax payers when these authorities seized tax returns from a Greeley tax preparer's office, trying to build cases of identity thefts against people in the immigrant community.
ACLU of Colorado has filed a suit in February, 2009, is State District Court, arguing that by seizing and retaining confidential tax information, the Weld County authorities had violated the Constitutional right to privacy of hundreds of tax payers.
Mark Silverstein will speak about the year long struggle which culminated in the decision by the Colorado State Supreme Court validating ACLU's position.

The talk and discussion will be followed by a membership business meeting. There will be election of the Boad of Directors of the Northern Colorado Chapter. Nominations from the floor are welcome.
Admission is FREE and the public is cordially invited to hear the talk. CLE credit status pending.
