September 2010

2010 Carle Whitehead Memorial Dinner and Silent Auction
When: Saturday, September 25, 5:30 PM Reception and Silent Auction, 7:00 PM Dinner and Awards
Where: Denver Marriott City Center, 1701 California Street
The Carle Whitehead Memorial Dinner and Silent Auction is an annual event and fundraiser for the Colorado ACLU Foundation. The Carle Whitehead award is given to a person or persons who have dedicated a lifetime of work to the protection of our civil rights and liberties in Colorado. This dinner is the biggest fundraiser for the ACLU Foundation of Colorado, providing the means to fund litigation, educate the public and to further its mission of protecting and extending the civil rights and liberties of all people in Colorado. This year's speaker will be Denise "Denny" LeBoeuf, Director of the John Adams Project, who represents persons facing death at trial and in post-conviction in state and federal courts, and teaches and consults with capital defense teams nationally. She is particularly interested in the litigation of mental health cases and in the ways in which race and poverty increase the traumatic burden carried by many clients. We will be honoring Colorado lawyers defending Guantanamo detainees. For more information about tickets, sponsoring, volunteering, or donations for this event, please see our 2010 Carle Whitehead Memorial Dinner page.
