Over the years, the Boulder County ACLU has been a watchdog for civil liberties, seeking to correct unconstitutional government policies or actions. These have not been cases as such, but public problems that may or may not involve infringement of an individual's rights. The emphasis is on fixing the problem rather than a remedy (or compensation) for the individual.

Although a local ACLU chapter like ours does not represent clients or file lawsuits --only the state ACLU office can threaten or conduct litigation-- our chapter has had great success with many advocacy efforts that do not require litigation.

Education
Chapter members often speak before government, civic, business educational and religious organizations on current issues or to provide general information on the ACLU and the Bill of Rights. If you would like to have a Boulder County ACLU speaker for your organization, Contact us.

Outreach
This year we've been at NedFest, Boulder Creek Festival, Boulder Farmers Market, Cinvo de Mayo, Boulder's Pearl Street Mall and other public events, co-sponsored Bill of Rights rallies with community organizations, held "Young Professionals" social hours at local art gallieres and spoke to community and civic groups.

Wally Lovelace Educational Fund
The Boulder County ACLU has established the Wally Lovelace Educational Fund in memory of one of our Chapter founders. We are always seeking ways to help educate the public - and particularly school children - about the Bill of Rights and civil liberties. We have sponsored educational events, essay contests and public forums, and speak regularly before civic and religious organizations.

We have established a Wally Lovelace Civil Liberties Library of books at the Boulder Public Library Main Branch which will act as both a resource for all interested in learning more about the Bill of Rights and sharing this information with others.
